About Us

Safety. Quality. Production.

Since the company was established in 1970, these three words have been the cornerstone of our company beliefs.

Because Safety Matters ...
Just as there is no substitute for quality, at Shoffner there are no compromises on safety. That's why the firm employs an independent safety consultant to oversee and monitor a strict corporate safety program.

Safety meetings are held each week on every project site, employees attend "in-house" safety seminars, as well as safety events sponsored by industry trade groups, these seminars are conducted by TOSHA and other experts in the industry. Supervisors receive additional training at safety academies two or three times a year. Of course, all Shoffner job sites are drug-free, by virtue of pre-employment drug testing combined with random drug checks.

As a result, Shoffner has a safety record second to none. And by enjoying a favorable experience modification ratio, the company is able to pass on the cost-savings for insurance to it's clients. Ultimately, all this adds up to higher employee moral, more efficient production, better workmanship, and lower costs.

When Quality Counts...

For more than three decades Shoffner has demonstrated a commitment to quality. Every day. On every job.

It is a commitment that is evident in the thousands of projects the company has completed - large projects for nationally known corporations as well as smaller ventures that are just as important. It is a commitment that comes through in Shoffner's people. Well-trained, experienced and responsive technicians and supervisors willing to work a little harder and a little smarter, in order to make a difference.

With more than $5 million in equipment, a stable, motivated workforce, and a superior bonding capacity, Shoffner has firmly established itself as the preeminent "open shop" mechanical contractor in the region. From our sophisticated estimating and scheduling systems, which allows for fast-tracking, to Tennessee's leading apprenticeship and training programs, the company has the right mix of high tech and high energy to earn a ranking in Domestic Engineering's prestigious "Book of Giants." In addition, Shoffner has won numerous regional and national trade association awards for both safety and project quality, as well as winning the National Association of Plumbing Heating and Cooling Contractor's (NAPHCC) -- "Contractor of the Year Award", in 1990.

Being More Productive ...

With our commitment to safety and quality Shoffner gains the benefit of improved productivity, cleaner, well organized project sites, reduced injuries, better employee morale, in combination all equal increased productivity. We don't just talk about increasing our productivity... we work on being better! Whether that means implementing new construction practices and methods or purchasing the best and newest tool or piece of equipment Shoffner is serious about improving our abilities   to provide the highest quality product in the smallest amount of time. With prefabrication shops for both our sheetmetal ductwork and our plumbing, mechanical and process piping Shoffner can work on projects no matter the weather conditions. With many projects having limited fabrication and storage areas our capabilities to perform "off site" results in substantial benefits to our customers.

Do we have a secret on how we increase our productivity? The answer is "YES" ..... actually maybe more than one secret. Before major construction projects are started we bring an internationally recognized construction materials handling / productivity expert in to our training facility. We invite our owners, general contractors, other major subcontractors and Shoffner project specific personnel and then, as a group, we spend time discussing material storage areas, vehicle travel routes, how are we going to get materials on the floors. etc. But most importantly we listen to our folks in the trenches! We reward suggestions on ways to improve installation or fabrication practices. We "try-out" the latest tools and equipment and then ask the field mechanics and technicians to give us their opinions. We purchase the item they want, not the least expensive or the one that may have the most gadgets!

The strength of Shoffner Mechanical is in our people ....
